Sorry to hear that! He's a super nice guy to talk to!
True story: A bunch of racers had gathered at the local Atlanta Waffle House after one of the Havatampa Dixie races. Me and my crew walk in and I spot Mike sittin down with that infamous hat he always wore. I said to Mike, "I see youre still kickin", he replied, "Son, see this hat! Its older than you are, and it will outlive the both of us."
Thoughts and prayers to Mike and family, he's one of the best to ever wheel it around the big track at Gaffney. Duvall, Freddy, Buck, Lightning Jack and many more. a lot of powerful teams have come out of the Cherokee Speedway area. Keep digging, Mike you are a class act.
Have one of his last shirts. He came to the DTWC at Atomic. And I remember him from Pennsboro and that. It's a shirt that is signed and will probably never be worn. Seen him race very little, but I always liked him, his car, just his whole deal.
Hopefully he gets better, always been a fan.
Up in the air who my next “favorite†driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normalâ€.
His wife Pam today posted on her Facebook page Mike is having difficulties with memory and aggression, they think due to race car and football injuries.
