Deal about putting a door plate in anyway?!
It's not the drivers had a problem with doing it, it was because no one knew about it til this week. They were also claiming they needed to be welded in place, and that makes it to where you cannot take them off for any other track. I do know of one car that had them bolted on though, which wasn't following the rule.

The ump tech guys didn't even look at the door plates, eldora staff only inspected them.

They do have a newer weight rule. All cars must weight 2350. The plates added 20-25lbs.

You guys welded them on? Around the full perimeter?

It's supposed to be from behind the A pillar to B pillar. That's how it was done.

It said something about being around the perimeter of the plate.

Do the mods have to run 10lb fit suppression? I know of several guys around my area have the smaller bottle who try to race at eldora each season.

I was not around when the welding was done. I'm thinking there are 3 or 4 1/8" plates that were put in. It's not one solid plateh between the pillars though.

Come on Eldora you need to fix this!! 2000 to win a late model race in 2017 is a joke. The stocks feature was the best race of the night
The payout is a problem but not nearly as big a problem as the steel plate. If other series or tracks were requiring this I could see where it could be mandated but for Eldora to be the only track in America I think that will kill the car counts for Eldora. Don't know why they implemented this rule but these tracks and sanctioning bodies has to slow up on all the rule changes before there isn't any cars left to race.

I can't believe there are late models without steel plates welded over the door bars. Even my 2012 Victory sport mod has one. It's a no-brainer.

Yeah, I don't get the need for full welds.

I don't know any that do. Now bolt on plates are pretty common.

The weld plates added 12 lbs to our car. The thing with Eldora is $2000 to win and that track uses up your equipment. You can burn up some serious $$$ real quick in one night of racing at Eldora. Also, I think it's $2000 or $2500 to win the LM track championship which is ridiculous considering some other local tracks pay upwards of $7500 for track championships. A lot of guys just can't afford to run at Eldora for these measly payouts, especially if you don't have at least 800+HP you are dead in the water, which most don't have. I think Eldora does a great job of keeping the facility up and fan friendly but it's now time to start rewarding the drivers and teams with some extra $$$.... Pay more and you will get bigger car counts, which equals more beer sales, ticket sales, entry fees etc! The mod payouts aren't any better. Maybe take some money out of the fireworks kitty and put it towards the purse. Last I checked people don't go to Eldora for the fireworks show, unless it's for family fun night..Yes, they do have 2 large LM races every year that pay BIG money. But, they also make enough money from just the World 100 to cover all of the expenses for the entire year. It's time to pony up as this sport has really gotten expensive over the last 10 years!

I can't understand why Eldora would put these rules in place, when neither WOO or Lucas has these rules yet? I also know of several modified drivers who've bought the small fire bottle to cover the requirements at other tracks but willn't be able to run Eldora because of the rule requiring 10lb bottle? If these rules were going across the country I have no problem, but that's certainly not the case and most weekly tracks are giving guys the majority of the year to make the upgrades.

Sunoco is still $2K to win??? Only because of Eldora have they been able to pull that off for the last 100 years.

Most ALMS events pay very little. Is Sam Driggers still the series director? If so, keep in mind that he's the guy that during the Summer Nationals will call a b-main a "c-main" so they don't have to pay the b-main payout.
