Except he's pouting about Dirt and what happened earlier this year. So, he's sitting at home on one of the biggest races of the year. First, the Dream and now the PDC. Can't remember the last time a defending PDC champ didn't show up to actually defend his title, if at all?

I think Richards is a decent driver and good for the sport but I wouldn't say he needs to be the face of the sport. He has 5 major wins in 10 years with the best equipment in the sport. Pierce has 3 majors in a year and a half. Sheppard will surpass Richards also. If anything have Davenport as the face of the sport. He's atleast won a race at Eldora and has twice as many major wins as Richards. When you think of the greats in the sport you think about the drivers success at Eldora. Bloomquist, Moyer, Moran, Purvis, Moore. Richards would have to win more than championships to be the face of the sport. Babb has 5 touring titles and no one considers him great. If anyone is going to be the face of the sport it will be Pierce going forward. Show Me winner, World winner and North South 100 plus 3 touring titles. He's already close to accomplishing more than Richards. But until Bloomquist decides to retire no one is replacing him as the face of the sport. No one sells more tickets or wins bigger races.

You have to really dislike Josh Richards to make a post like that. And Scott Bloomquist never has been and never will be the face of the sport. He has way too much negative baggage to be the face of anything in a positive way.Originally posted by joshroth14 View PostI think Richards is a decent driver and good for the sport but I wouldn't say he needs to be the face of the sport. I don't dislike Richards at all. Hes a nice guy and is having a great year but I dont put him in that top tier as a driver. He has several years to win more majors and become the face of the sport but currently I don't see it. Thats just my opinion though. If he shows up and wins the World this year then absolutely he's on his way to the face of DLM racing but without Eldora success you're not the face of the sport. Bloomquist as controversial as he can be is absolutely the face of the sport and has been for 20 years. Even your dislike for him you cant look past that. When you ask non fans about dirt late model racing they will say they've heard of Bloomquist but thats all they know. Thats being the face of the sport. When Dave Despain does an interview with you then thats being the face of the sport. Being on the cover of Speedway Illustrated, Stock Car Racing magazine and in Car and Driver magazine is being the face of the sport. He's not always great for the sport, his antics are pretty frustrating at times but no doubt Bloomquist is the face of DLM racing. I see Richards being like Moyer. Great driver with a great attitude but not the edge to be the face of the sport and Pierce like Bloomquist. Just controversial enough to be the face of the sport moving forward.

Sheeesh!!! Shot off yet another opinion based on personal preference once again. Guess what, Your opinions are not the gold standard by any means. hahahahahaaOriginally posted by TerryM View PostRichards is the driver we need to be the face of DLM racing right now. Love him or hate him, it's the truth. Key ... right now.
We know you don't like Bloomquist, thus another chance for you to prove it though.
