I know that a few years back you were big on going to google earth and finding out the actual size of some of the speedways.
I always felt as though Eldora speedway and Toledo speedway were the same size.
Could you check out these 2 speedways and find out how close they are in actual size.

The reason I want to know is that I see that a winged sprint car time trialed at 12.14 at Toledo and I am pretty sure that the Track record at Eldora is around 12.79

Thank you for coming up with this information. It looks like Toledo is just a little bit larger overall and both of these tracks are SMALLER then a half mile...

Not many true half mile dirt tracks left that are used for auto racing. Terre Haute and The Belleville High Banks are a couple of the last in the Midwest.

Williams Grove, Selinsgrove, Port Royal, Bedford and PPMS are all true half miles still running in PA.

Rome, in GA, is a true half mile, and claims to be the fastest.

Not anymore I don't think. They downsized it some.

PA isn't in the Midwest. It's in the Northeast

He didn't say in the Midwest, he said there weren't that many half miles left in operation in general. I was just mentioning some of the half miles out this way.

My post was in reference to your post after you quoted Cirf which he mentioned Midwest.

My measurement of Eldora around the outside wall is 2680 ft. Which is 40 feet over a half mile right on the wall itself. Of course the cars run a bit shorter distance. I consider Eldora as a true half miler.

I just measured Toledo at 2630 FT. around the outside wall.

These are what I have come up with. I thought Toledo might be bigger but I did measure it twice.

I always thought Davenport was larger than the 1/2 mile advertised. Just seems big.

I was told Davenport was a half mile on the bottom. West Liberrty took the same gear as Davenport, back in the day. Iowa also has Oskalosa a half mile Knoxville, Eldon, 34 raceway and Donnelson are short half miles I believe there are a couple in the north west part of Iowa too. DesMoines Fairgrounds got put to pasture.
