Question of The Day

As a race fan how do you keep up with the sport? Do you get all your racing news off of the internet? Do you still subscribe to racing publications? Or a combination of both?. As someone in their 50's I guess I am old school, compared to my 20 something year old kids, who get 99% of their news and information directly from the internet. I still enjoy sitting down on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee and reading the Sunday newspaper.

I continue to subscribe to 5 racing publications (although at one time I got almost 10). Weekly: Area Auto Racing News, and monthly Dirt Late Model, Speed Sport, Sprint Car & Midgets and Flat Out. I also pay for Dirt on Dirt and Sprint Car Unlimited websites and check free racing websites such as 4M, Inside Dirt Racing & One Dirt, etc on a regular basis.

I am curious on what other dirt racing fans do in today's NEW INFORMATION WORLD to keep up?

Being my work in heavy industrial construction takes me all over the country I have to rely on the internet and various sites to keep up on racing as we are usually working 6-7 days a week. When laid off I attend as many races as I can or on a rare weekend off if I don't come home I try to find tracks where we are working to catch some racing.

I don't subscribe to any racing publications but I get most of my information from the internet as well as attending races and hearing info that way.

No paper subs or electronic subs for me. I don't understand people paying for coverage, there is so much that is free out there it makes no sense to me to pay for any news or videos. Just wait the next day and you'll find most results/highlights for free posted online.
I try to go as often as possible, to form my own opinions that way, but I do look to the free sources on the internet for additional info: twitter, forums, youtube, etc. especially when going to a track for the first time.

As an example, this was my first year for PA sprint speedweek. The weeks before I left, I hit all the tracks websites, researched here and even google earthed my drives to and from every track. I knew where to all make my turns/exits at and even where to park at the racetracks before even entering the state of PA just from the street views from google maps.
