The Racing at eldora was actually pretty good all three days, other than the feature on Saturday night, something about open air at eldora. An observation on what the race has become, it's not about the race anymore, it has become trendy place for race fans and people who want to get drunk. Let's face it who here thinks trendy mixed drinks belong at a dirt race. And I appreciate the passion on this board for dirt late-model Racing, but I could tell you 75% of the people around me on Friday and Saturday could care less about the race and more about getting drunk. Unfortunately Eldora is becoming more and more like NASCAR, I even heard one clown in front of me say this sucks, there's not enough wrecks, sadly getting drunk and seeing wrecks is why they go. You go upfront to buy a shirt to support your favorite driver then you realize 60% of the shirts for sale say world 100, Eldora or Tony Stewart, so basically the fans at the race are not even interested in buying driver shirts because all you see is Eldora shirts. The writing is on the wall a few years ago they put progressive banking in turns three and four and the Racing was incredible, but the NASCAR truck series said that wouldn't work for them so the track compromised an incredibly racy surface for NASCAR.

You do realize this is a surface that most drivers want today. Sure you get a heavy track and everyone is flat out screaming around the track, people yell the track was horrible, you get a slicked off track and drivers want to get on it to get it rubber ed up. This puts it in the hands of set up and driver. Today's cars are all fast on a heavy track, you have a good starting spot with a torque monster under your right foot, and you got it made. I no, I no, everyone wants to see that curb so guys can plant the RR . Unless the track has had a lot of rain it just isn't happening anymore.

Exactly the reason that when I go to a racetrack to spectate, I go into the pits. I may not get to see the whole track at once, but let me say the conversations are MUCH more intelligent!!

Like said above, this is why I hang out in the infield more than the stands. I always make my way up the stands for the b mains and 100 lapper, and I sit out by the food stand in 1 & 2. There is not near as many people over there, I can still see the screen, and there are shathouses with a food stand. I haven't gotten annoyed once in the last 15 years by doing this.

I understand what you're saying but I really don't want to give up my good seats because of a bunch of drunks. The problem remains is people complain about the race surface and let's face it nothing will change when 80% of the people in the grandstands don't have a clue About dirt racing and are too drunk to know what's going on anyways.

Most of our bunch goes to take a break from racing weekly to kick back drink and watch other people race. They served mix drinks at eldora before NASCAR got involved. The drinking and partying is pretty tame compared to when I started going in the late 90s

They serve liquor at Pittsburgh (PPMS) under the grandstands. Captain and Coke is quite tasty with a little dust on top.

A couple of tracks around me also serve mix drinks. Last I checked they aren't owned by Tony Stewart and haven't hosted a truck race.

Anybody whos been to Eldora knows darn well half of the people there are there to get stupid. Its been going on for decades. Its most likely never going to change. It makes for good people watching, and we try and not let it ruin the racing. The darn track was much more of a disappointment this year.

Eldora has calmed down a ton since I've been going there. Those of you who have just been going the last few years should have seen it when Earl had it.
