RIP. He was a true legend! The only place I for sure remember getting to see him race was at Eldora. The first time I saw him I believe was at the inaugural Dream. I remember it well because he got together with Moyer in the C-Main,and then everyone was boo-hooing about Moyer not making the field. Roughly half stood up and cheered though LOL.
The best thing I ever heard about him came from a racer from here who went to Mike's driving school at Cherokee. He got a decal from the school, and he asked Mike where he wanted him to stick it on his late model. Mike told him to put it on the underside of the frame so people could read it when he turned the car over!! How can you not love a guy like that? And yes the driver proved him right more than once!
I thought the lap around Cherokee was nice. I watched a little of his service also, and it was very good.
