Started following Mikey Marlar back in the 90's when he ran Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside quite a bit and his driving talents were pretty obvious even back then. He was beating my favorite driver every time he showed up so I decided I didn't like him. A few races later I ran into him at the pit concession stand and noticed how friendly he looked, so I struck up a conversation with him and he talked to me for 10-15 minutes, friendly and down-to-earth as he could be, and he didn't know me from Adam. He became one of my favorite LM drivers that night and I've been a big Mike Marlar fan since. Drives the right way, always clean, rarely ever has anything negative to say and just a good spokesman for the sport. Sort of reminds me of being the Mark Martin of dirt late model racing.Comment

I went to three SLM races this year, Deer Creek, Cedar Lake, and Knoxville. The driver who impressed me the most at each track was Marlar. I am a fan now.Comment

I think he is, too. Just a good ole TN boy who is as humble as they come but doesn't forget the likes of CJ Rayburn and all his contributions to DLM racing.
