Robert Yates racing engines put the others to shame in NASCAR. Because of the outstanding horsepower that he was building into his engines NASCAR succumbed to the constant whining of the other teams and they dreamed up the idea of confisticating the entire car and making it run on a chassis dyno to feed information to the other teams to let them know by just how much they were being out powered by ! All of the sudden rule changes were in order to let the others catch up. This was {IMO } part o the beginning of the end for NASCARs demise into the pitiful abortion that it has become .

I remember when all this happened , they all submitted cylinder heads for approval and ernie elliott,s head was the most powerful , but yates head was more compatible with the chevy head so thats what they did.....
