Having worked nights for most of the last decade, I'm often up late at night. That's when most of the F1 stuff is televised so I'll watch every now and then. I don't know that I would consider myself a fan, but I certainly marvel at the mechanical masterpieces those cars are. Aren't they like $1 million or something? It's unbelievable what they can do. I watched some of the practice from Japan this past week, and the speeds they put up in virtual downpour weather was unreal. Definitely something to checkout if you're a fan of anything that goes fast. I can only imagine what they're like in person!

NASCAR modified tour at Stafford Motor Speedway in CT. Got to see one of the best tracks I have ever seen, with the coolest cars on the earth (IMO), and the late great Ted Christopher run one of his last races.

Otherwise, PASS super late models at Hickory and a few mod races at Bowman Gray Stadium (I was real bored!)

CIRF, nice shout out about the Pay Less Little 500. I was fortunate to have a career with Kroger / Pay Less and helped execute our sponsorship. As you say, EVERYONE should see the Little 500 one time. Watching the start is worth the price of admission alone. It's incredible how the pit stop strategy plays out in that race.

Two notable pavement races I saw this year were the Kalamazoo Klash and last Sunday's Winchester 400. Kalamazoo, MI Speedway is a beautiful 3/8ths mile speedway with suites nearly around the speedway from the 3rd turn till the 1st turn. Place was packed on a Wed night. And.....watching 400 laps on the 30+ degree banked turns at Winchester was crazy. And 5 cars were on the lead lap at the end!

It's worth checking out some pavement races through the year.

Yeah. Racing is racing, dunno who all the drivers are anymore. Who drives for the American team?

Got back today from our long weekend down in Austin, and I've got to say, what a cool place. My buddies and I had a great time. The city itself is a happening place, younger type, college town. Good restaurants and friendly people (For the most part.) The race weekend was spectacular. We had seats at turn 1 and had great views of the front stretch and pit road exit. We were a little nervous Sunday morning with the weather but it turned out to be a beautiful day. We sat with some Brazilians and man those guys know how to have a good time. It's a shame that Haas team didn't do better, and that we had to watch Hamilton win the USGP again, but the racing was actually pretty good. Vettell made some nice passes along with Verstappen on their march back to the front.

The technology on these cars are mind blowing. The way that they can drive so deep into a corner at 200+mph is amazing. Everyone should go to this race at least once. It's not dirt late models, but the cars are worth making the trip to see.
