    Ran out of fuel

I was reading the result on DoD from the NLMS race at All tech Speedway in FL and one guy ran out of fuel leading the race with 5 laps left. Supposedly he took the lead on lap 9 and ran out on lap 35 with 5 to go. Did they forget to put fuel in the car???

I have no idea in this incident, but I could see it happening. I was watching the All Star Sprints (or something like that) on MavTV (back when Dish Network still carried the channel), and one of the bigger names (I forget who, but I knew him right away from his old WoO days) came to a stop while leading, or at least running up front. When they asked him about it, he admitted he ran out of fuel. Said he didn't hold it against the crew because he has yet to drive a race in which he made no mistakes. So I guess they learned from it and moved on.

I'm often at the races by myself, so I prioritize, the best I can, what I need to do to the car between races. And depending on how it went, or if I have to run a consi or something, fuel can often be one of the last things that gets done. A simple thing, yes, but I'm rarely under 15 gallons and that should get me through most any race I'd be at.
