GR Smith ride??

It seems strange to me that GR would sign an IL guy to drive. I'd hope the driver would be someone that doesn't already own their own equipment. With so many teams dropping out of the sport, seeing a guy like Feger or Babb join forces with GR Smith only further reduces car count.

Agreed. As of right now if Babb (most likely) goes to the GR Smith ride, we've already lost four cars that ran at Eldora last year...Casey Roberts Cushman ride, Madden's car, the Pierce house car and Babb's car. We got the new Stuckey team and the Lance Landers ride, but that would still be a net loss of two competitive teams/cars. It's one thing to lose back markers, but losing two top national level teams really sucks.

It's funny to me that the " GR smith " ride was never a factor to even be discussed until Snort and rumley took over .... Snort and rumley are both gone so why is everyone frothing at the tip discussing this ?? And every car that needs a driver someone says fergussn ... the dude has a new xr1 every 10 races and a spread bore Clements ... he's not driving Barney flinstones car. That is a top shelf piece he runs , he might not have 5 of them but he's not racing junk when he's racing

Ferguson has top notch equipment but he has way too many things go wrong with his cars at the track. He needs somebody that can maintain and prepare the equipment and let him just drive the cars at the track...

Well, with Shirley having his Cullen deal & Rusty having his, I guess that would leave Babb. Ricky Thornton has just announced his deal to drive for Jet Mod Racin & Tanner Motorsports. So, I don't think he is the one either.

Is Jet going to build a USMTS/USRA car or is RT going run IMCA the whole year.

I really dont see Babb taking this ride as he has been wanting to stay close to home and esp now with a second child on the way. And if you look on Fegers fb he has most everything up for sale so thats my pic for this ride.

I agree with you though. Unless Fergy wanted to do a national tour there is no reason for him to switch rides.

Jet did have a USMTS car on the tour this year with Mike Densburger. I think a few years ago Dylan Smiths USMTS car was a Jet also. Although both pretty much looked and drove like an IMCA car. Mike Tanner technically owned Sobbings USMTS car he had last year.

RT answered someone's question about USMTS/IMCA on Facebook He said, "Running what I want and makes sense. Mostly IMCA."......................Such a shame. This kid just needs a break. He really should be in a late model. He would be very impressive.

So we've got Babb, Feger, Ferguson, and might as well throw in Strickler, for good measure. So you say "who is Strickler?" I could say the same about some of the unknowns being thrown about here. G.R. likes fast and broke
the qualifying record held by Ferguson at Dublin this past year. Ferguson currently holds the track records at several tracks, even at Eldora, and some of you may have heard of that place. Both G.R. and Ferguson have suffered buzzard's luck over the past year or two so putting two bad luck people together might prove to be a charm.
