PRI Thoughts...

It's been over 25 years since I visited the PRI show... it was pretty amazing. So many incredible products out there... mostly at incredible prices!

I would recommend that every racing "expert" on this board make the trip at least once... you will be humbled.

Yes the stuff is very cool but in all honesty when you look at the products and the cars especially the mods like Harrison an Hoffmans cars with tools that help you technically advance the cars even further is just making the gap wider and wider for the fixed budget racer to compete..weekly a mod racing will soon be a thing of the past also...

I agree... technology is killing the ability of the regular Joe to be competitive every week.

However it doesn't stop us low buck guys from having fun. I've been slow and I've been fast... both are fun.

You know... I used to want all that fancy stuff but no more. Poverty has a way of changing your outlook on life.

I pay cash for everything... if I don't have it there's no plastic to use to get it. Keeps me grounded. I buy some stuff with a down stroke and weekly/monthly payments and insist the owner keep the item until it's paid for. I bought my $800.00 Mastersbilt in July... took until February to get it paid for...I did some announcing at Spring Lake Speedway to pay for some of it then sold some old hot rod parts to get the remaining cash.

Took 5 months to pay for my blown up 383... now I need another $600.00 to pay for my new pistons and another $350.00 for the new cam and lifters.

I'm going to run the 2018 season with some old Hoosier Humpers that I found in the dump...10 gallons of Hoosier Juice should make 'em quick.....

I kinda like it that way...

Phil is so poor that at the PDC last summer he had four old Bobby tshirts sewn together so he wouldn't have to be nekkid...

My dad was that way...he didnt have a lot but what he did have he owned and never ever owed anybody a dime...he fabricated most of our mod parts and when he built his pole barn he used 2x3 instead of 2x4 thats how tight he was...but I guess its not always a bad thing...he ran a limited sportsman back in the 80s he would actually sew up them old hoosier dirt bosses if he had a cut in em..lol

Shawano, WI Saturdays with a few Plymouth, WI thrown in. I'd really like to make a few Fridays at Red Cedar in Menominee, too.

All depends on funding for fuel... Got a 460 in a crew cab that gets a fuel squeezing 11.6 mpg.

In my opinion, technology only increases the gap between smart hard working racers, and people that aren’t either. Technology and information is readily available to everyone with an internet connection. Racecars aren’t magic. They are very complicated mechanical inanimate objects that no one in this world fully understands. The people that can understand and manipulate the car to do what they want, when they want to will be the ones that win. Hint: it doesn’t take air shocks and magic bump stops to do it. The people that work hard and think for themselves will sell what they worked hard to create for a lot of money. The way to get around that is think hard and work hard for yourself. Aero is just sheet metal, suspension is just solid links and compressible links. The engine is expensive but you don’t need one to win at 80% of the tracks in America.

I'm a race fan, too. But I don't have a lot of favorites...know too many drivers who are friends. Tuff to cheer for one when you know half the field.

When I was in the promoting game I tried to be fair and impartial...now that's a tough row to hough...
