We have a group of campers from Minnesota planning to go for the 1st time in 2018.

What do we need to know going into this event? We are planning to attempt to get a couple campsites at Pine Grove RV Park next week. What else?

1. It’ll probably be hot. God help us.

2. They are a bunch of a$$holes at Pine Grove. But if you wanna camp there, get your reservation ASAP. It’s completely full for SDN.

3. You can get a camping spot at the track with an advance ticket purchase. It’s first come, first serve as far as spots go. No hookups however.

To Echo what husker said, they are aholes at pine grove. We had a hotel but wanted to stop at that camp ground to visit a few friends camping there. They wanted us to pay 10 dollar a person to just go see them. We explained it was going to be like a 20 minute ordeal but security wouldn't' let us in.

Yes it is hot, I have only been there once out of the 4 times that it wasn't 90+ all weekend. But the racing is so awesome it makes up for it!

HOT is an understatement, but the racing is absolutely fantastic. Making the trip from AZ again for the 3rd straight year. We stay at the track w/ a large group of folks and have a great time.

Let me ask this when it comes to Pine Grove, if we aren't a rowdy group and are very mindful of our camping neighbors, will we have any problems? Not disagreeing with both of your feedbacks about them, but looking for further info. JMDraceHD98, is that is your only reason to call them a-holes? Not good enough in my opinion.

It’s usually pretty quiet over there. So you won’t have any problems on that end. I’d say when you get there, be VERY upfront about how many cars/people are with you. God forbid somebody sneak through. I’m not telling you not go there, but there are very similar stories to what JMD has experienced.

Seating wise.... you can see the whole track from just about anywhere. The pits are sunk down in the middle so you don’t have to get high up at all to have a clear view, maybe to row 6-7 in the chair backs is all you need.

All I will say is they had very choice words for me that was not very professional. Believe me I am a very easy going guy and gave them respect but got none in return. I've never camped there, maybe it is amazing. But my friends that were camping there said they would never go back because it is so strick. FYI They are in their 50's and don't party.

What’s the camping like at the track? I know it’s first come first serve. Is it tight and everyone is crammed in? We will be at the Lucas race the night before at Jackson so would arrive at I-80 early afternoon Thursday.

It can get tight in there. Usually Thursday afternoon is when business picks up for campers coming in. Last year was the fullest it’s ever been for that race. If you have 3-4 campers they arranged the spots in the middle so you can be side by side and front to back in either direction.

It’s gets kinda loud, but not terrible. Just depends on who are next to.

The track camping situation is actually quite good. There are groups that cram in, but there always seems to be plenty of room for those that want a bit more space on the outer edges.... We have never had an issue w/ noise or with getting a spot for that matter..... We will also be hitting the races the weekend and week before so will arrive about the same as you TireGuy.....

One of the best races around. I am from Iowa and will be doing the Jackson event also. We camp on the backstretch off turn 2, this gives us access to the pit area for the event, well worth the additional money! It is usually HOT!!! There is a truck stop 1/2 mile from the track for food/supplies, but not much else. There are four viewing stands in the pit area, gives you a great close up of the racing action. Good luck!

You can get a spot along the backstretch also. They even have bleachers now. I think Joe said they were 300 for the event and included pit passes.
