It won't let me quote a post right now, but let me just get this out there. Inerters are not that big of an advantage. Nobody ran a complete inerter package. They are not the end-all be-all of speed in dirt track racing. Not even close.
2018 fastrak rules update – new shock/suspension rules

I may not agree with crate racing takeovers. But, Stan is at least trying to make an attempt to bring the shock war into a smaller circle. Engineers have little interest in dirt racing other than to make money. The variables in a dirt track race FAR exceed asphalt. Engineers are developing shocks, but every Driver out there controls how that shock is going to react on a dirt track. Shock companies are making huge amounts of money off dirt racers. It's why that after Stan attempted to have them come to a round table nobody but 1 was interested. I would like to see in rocket and best trailers and see what there shock packages were 3 yrs ago compared to today.

They didn't get to that point. They are amazing on road course cars. So they certainly could be on dirt.Originally posted by Necrosis View PostIt won't let me quote a post right now, but let me just get this out there. Inerters are not that big of an advantage. LMAO!!Originally posted by Josh BaykoThey're figuring cars won't lay over on the right front so hard, and that'll keep the spoilers down.
What will happen?
A metric f*ckton of money will be spent on replacing bent shocks.
I guess they will have to put a heavier spring in......

There is zero chance a soft RF spring is going to work without a bump stop, stacked spring or alot of shock gas pressure.... all of which have been covered. Now can someone invent something to put a different device on that corner to get the wheel load? Absolutely and it will be up to the sanctioning body to control that if & when it happens.Originally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostThere is zero chance the fast guys will have a heavier spring.
Making the car fall on the RF with a soft spring doesn't give car what it wants without the bump stop or stacked spring. If the fast guys don't stiffen up, the ole rayburns will be whooping them.

There were guys running coil bind deals with success not that long ago. It is about wheel load at given travel values. It isn't Rocket science. A guy can play with coil spacing and powder coat thickness and easily get what he wants. There is no limit to rebound in these rules.Originally posted by blncfn57 View PostThere is zero chance a soft RF spring is going to work without a bump stop, stacked spring or alot of shock gas pressure.... all of which have been covered. And some of these docol cars almost have a torsion bar for a rf shock mount right now.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

That only works on super smooth, slick racetracks tho and you better have the polygrip handy because it'll jar your dang teeth loose. Been there and played that game. it worked so well everyone moved on to bumpstops and stacked springs. lolOriginally posted by MasterSbilt_Racer View PostThere were guys running coil bind deals with success not that long ago. I do have to apologize as I thought I seen they had a minimum spring rate in those rules also, which I don't see so that's my bad.
I'm not trying to say that these rules are the cats meow, but for a crate or a Limited Late Model car I don't see what it'll hurt.

They moved on cause they had the luxury. Spring rate rule is worthless. Have to check wheel rate.Originally posted by blncfn57 View PostThat only works on super smooth, slick racetracks tho and you better have the polygrip handy because it'll jar your dang teeth loose. I’m gonna have to agree with a couple other people on here that at least some of the problem lies in the layout structure. The payout drops off too fast, if you want more people racing give the 20th place guy more than $150. Everyone here knows that even the smallest budget race team can’t even come close to racing a late model for 150 bucks. Pay $300 to start the feature and lower the winning purse a little if you must. Most of the people contending for the win aren’t there for the money anyway and spend enough on motors, haulers and new equipment every year they can’t break even either way. Likewise most people who have quit racing is because they can’t afford it not because they can’t win.

Clowns are people who think a 200# spring and a rubber donut ruined racing. If it is faster to put the bumper on the track it will be on the track. If the reason to hate those parts is aero, take the spoiler off and fix the body.Originally posted by hucktyson View PostStan just ignore these clowns. According to the engineers on this board If 410 sprints got rid of weight rules, wing rules , tire rules , CI rules , shock rules , any type of motor rules at all the cars would cost 1/3rd what they do now and every race would be won from 24th AND they would be way way way safer for drivers and fans going an extra 50mph faster like the lack of rules would allow ... they think if you limit them to a 375rf you going to let them design a radical new front suspension that will act like a stacked spring on a bump stop ... when clearly anyone with a brain can see it would be outlawed immediately... You are absolutely going the right direction tying to save races from themselves but these rules don't go far enough, it's a good start.
If I want to get the nose on the ground, I haven't seen a rule yet that would stop me. Physics is fun and not all that hard.
And if your rules require suspension disassembly to enforce, it will take too long or not be done at all. Keep it simple.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing

Masterbilt Racer has is so figured out he out to be out cashing checks winning all these races, rather than on 4m all day every day.

I already gave answers and hinted at others. Don't see what is so hard to see.Originally posted by stock car driver View PostMasterbilt Racer has is so figured out he out to be out cashing checks winning all these races, rather than on 4m all day every day.Modern Day Spec Wedge Racing
