and that was with BWRC... Barry has been getting better at Volusia over the years, even Brandon Kinzer ran well down there with Barry. I still don't put much value in what happens during speed weeks.

Why was Richards not in the back up Best car Friday or Saturday? Both cars/engines out of commission?

Absolutely none of it surprised me. Bloomer ran the way he always does during speedweeks, no surprise to those of us with a little less hair and some gray. Rocket house cars did what they do with the insane amount of resources they have, no surprise. The GR/Shirley pairing w/o Rumley was on par with what I expected in Florida too. Florida isn't what you'll see the whole rest of the season, dominating during speedweeks does NOT translate to a phenomenal season. People breaking up after Florida does surprise me, that's just dumb and somewhat premadonna in my book, but hey it is what it is. Nobody seems to want to work thru anything anymore, they demand instant results or they walk. Sad, sad generation. It would seem that some believe if you don't have an XYZ chassis and an ADRS engine, that you can't possibly win. I will say I was impressed with the early gelling of EPJ and Stuckey, running a chevy no less, which according to popular sentiment isn't possible...

I think Bloomer, and at least JD, have comparable resources to the Rocket camp. None of which I guess I fault, but man, the costs are $$$$.

Good post by the way. Good points all around. I would at least stick with something till when JD walked last year. Shame they didn’t just switch motors earlier.

I always expect Bloomer to struggle somewhat at the beginning of the year, I feel like he was just terrible this year compared to most. That last night at Volusia really surprised me. When I seen he sat fast time, and gapped Bshep by 4 secs in his heat, I figured he was going to be a lock for the main when he had just won the night before. Annnnd he done the complete opposite

He kinda shafted me on the fantasy points

Thanks, I just think JD/BWRC didn't have the resources to make the change they needed after sponsor dipped. and Clements was literally next door. What might have been... I thought Culp/GRT last year was pre-mature too, especially with GRT just getting back in the game in a serious way. GRT had always been like Bloomquist at East Bay, they didn't run good there, even in their hey-day. Joe even made a special design car around 01' with East bay in mind. We had one when I was helping Buck Simmons, total dud. It was Culp wasn't it, I forget?

Oh, I agree. I mean, like ya said, House of Power right there and they are running Hatfields. It was Culp with GRT. Very short period, they didn’t even have a honeymoon.

Just look at what Madden is doing, and I like JD way more than Madden. As a driver, I think they are very comparable, Madden I think has more car knowledge and backing. As a person, I think JD strikes me as a lot nicer. Nice JD got the backing again, just a shame him and Barry didn’t have it like ya said.

I believe i read somewhere that the grt house ride was more like they give you a free chassis and you pay to put it together.i believe the back up car was totally owned and payer for by culps father inlaw/ car owner. With less support from the manufacture than the average sponsor not hard to figure out why culp jumped ship so easy. It has also proven to be the best move of his career

If I was Pierce I would of at least tried a baseline set of integras Mark suggests down in florida..B Shepp and Richards looked like they had no handling issues and had plenty of side/forward bite, cant say the same for Bobby. Does Pierce have some sort of deal or sponsorship with Advanced? Maybe that has something to do with it...

I believe a Left REAR front shock mount is what was mentioned. A 6000 pound birdcage will cause problems like that. lol
