Without Rumley, I think the magic wasn't there. I think Shirley is a great wheelman and they have a good equipment, but Rumley made what JD was able to do last year possible. Fact. Almost every great wheelman needs that crew chief that can dial the car in to match the drivers skills. Cookie cutter doesn't suit everyone's style. JMO

Yea, I think GR thought he had all the answers after Davenport drove his car. Car hasn't performed very well since that all went away.

Shirley is a marginal regional talent at best. Would be a good Summer National contender. The GR ride made absolutely no sense from the start. Not touring national caliber.

If Shirley is indeed out, who should replace him? Donald McIntosh would be a great driver for that team. Donald trying to run an unproven chassis with an unproven motor was doomed from the start.

I would like to see them contact Jonathan Blankenship, don't know what his current situation i,but he was a hell of a wheelman who had a unfortunate end to his career.imo

That is great logic, in a sport that teams dissolve yearly. We need all the teams we can get and before we know it it’s going to be one series with 40 cars like nascrap.

There is no doubt that the team's major wins last year with JD shocked most of us. I do not think there were many DLM fans who thought Smith's team was capable of winning on the national stage?. That being said, maybe GR needs to jump back into the seat and race a regional schedule on a part time basis for the rest of 2018 and Shirley does the same with Bob Cullen's car?

G.R. had actually developed into a pretty good driver who could stay on the track if the equipment didn't break. Hiring Shirley made no sense because I thought G.R. was as good, if not better than Shirley. I suspect that if there has been a breakup, Smith will get back in his own car.
