ULTIMATE Series Set to Lift the Lid on 2018 at North Georgia Speedway
Carnesville, Georgia (February 20, 2018) – The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will open its 8th season of competition on Saturday, March 3rd just as it has the previous 3 seasons with a 40 lap / $4000 to win event at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia. The 1/3 mile oval promoted by Chip Burke has been a staple facility for the series since 2012. In last year’s event 31 drivers entered in search of the $4000 payday. In the end it was Evans, Georgia superstar Brandon Overton, who was making only his 3rd start in the Chip Stone owned team managed by veteran Randy Weaver, when he rallied from his 5th starting position to capture his first career ULTIMATE Series victory
The 2018 edition comes with high anticipation amongst fans, drivers and officials. “North Georgia has always been one of my favorite tracks we visit. They have a great fan base there and the facility has an old school racing feel to it. The trackside parking and family atmosphere just take me back to my early days of going to a racetrack as a kid. The racing at NGS is always a mixed bag. Sometimes it is lightning quick and other times slick and slow but the racing never seems to disappoint. And the staff there has always been phenomenal to work with. It is always cool to see who shows up and who decides to throw their hat in the ring and chase our points.†said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.
North Georgia will also hold an open practice from 7 to 10 PM on Friday night for drivers to come in and shake down their machines. The gates are scheduled to open at 4 PM for the practice night. “After the off-season we wanted to offer everyone a chance to check everything out and be ready to come out and put on a show for our fans on Saturday. We look forward to this event every year. We always draw a good group of cars and some of our largest crowds of the season. We are ready to get it on.†added Burke.
Some drivers expected to be on hand at North Georgia include 2-time Series Champion Dennis “Rambo†Franklin of Gaffney, South Carolina, 3-time Champion Casey Roberts of Toccoa, Georgia; defending Champion and Rookie of the Year Tyler Millwood of Kingston, Georgia; 2015 ULTIMATE Series Rookie of the Year Dustin Mitchell of Pine Level, North Carolina; Ivedent Lloyd of Ocala, Florida; Zack Mitchell of Enoree, South Carolina along with 2018 DirtonDirt.com Rookie of the Year presented by Cruise With the Champions candidates Kyle Hardy of Stevens, Virginia and Jeff Mathews of Apollo Beach, Florida. Other drivers expected to be in action at North Georgia include Jason Hiett of Oxford, Alabama; Chatsworth’s own Derek Ellis; 2017 ULTIMATE Championship runner-up Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tennessee and Ooltewah, Tennessee’s Riley Hickman.
North Georgia Speedway is located at 300 North Georgia Raceway Road in Chatsworth, Georgia. Saturday the pit gates are set to open at 2 PM while the grand stands will open at 4. Drivers meeting is set for 5:30 PM with racing to follow at 6. Saturday admission: Grandstands - Adults - $20.00, Kids (ages 6-11) - $10.00 and Kids 5 and under – FREE. Pit Admission: Adults - $35.00, Kids (ages 6-11) - $15.00 and Kids 5 and under – FREE. Spectator Fence Parking: $20.00 per night or $125.00 for the year. NGS will also host an open practice on Friday night, March 2nd from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. March 2nd admission: Pits - $20.00 and Grandstands – FREE. Gates open at 4:00 p.m. To help save on fuel costs, all drivers and crews are welcome to leave their trailers / equipment and / or stay in their rigs (on the premises) Friday night after practice to keep from having to drive back and forth. d

The ULTIMATE Series tire rule for the event is as follows: All four corners choose from American Racer compounds 48 or 56 or Hoosier compounds 1350 or 1600.
