    Cheating vs Dirty Driving....

They both have an effect on the outcome of a race but how often do you see a win overturned do to dirty driving?

If you're going to change the outcome of who won last weeks event do to an illiegal infractions of rules then shouldn't thay take the win away from a driver who won because he intentionally took out somebody to win?

Video has shown in many cases where this has happened and nothing was done, except for the uproar on social media.

Only if you could take a sample of the alleged dirty drivers scalp and send it off to a reputable lab to see if it meets the benchmark.......

And then announce the winner a week or two later.
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

Hopefully for some of the rule makers also.........some of those guys be trippin.

But to be fair, the whole finding out who the winner is a couple weeks after the checkered flag has fallen has really taken the excitement of dirt track racing to a whole nother level......no really.

The dirty driving, may be a can of worms the tracks or sanctioning bodies don't want to open. Even just a little bias could determine who got D/Qed. Take the Erb Davenport PDC deal. Do you penalize JD for door slamming, or do you penalize Erb for trying to run across JD's nose every straight a way. If it's flagrant flip them on a caution, put them out.

Someone once asked, "why don't they black flag and get rid of the lapped traffic, that is blocking the leader. Answer is, the lapped traffic can't see behind them. No mirrors. You can hear and feel them, but that's all. Should they be penalized for that?

If there would be any thought of a penalty for a situation like the JD Erb incident then dirt track racing will die no doubt...

The further "dumbing" down of racing thread...

Preventing the cheating up of the racecars is complex, to say the least. Certainty of rules compliance can be extremely time consuming and expensive. The money that is involved in competing and sanctioning contemporary dirt late model racing screams for universal compliance for obvious reasons. All competitors and fans can hope for is as much honesty and transparency as is monetarily and humanly possible. The answers seem as if they should be simple and easy but they are far from it in today's dirt late model world.

Dirty driving is a large part of what generates interest. Personally I want to be entertained by hard, clean racing that consists of skill, thoughtfullness and bravery, not who is most proficient at physically advancing a position and/or winning races. But it can't be denied that dirty driving is what helps put people in the stands. Look at what produces the biggest and most passionate threads here.

To me, in dirt late model racing, fair, equitable and effective rules compliance standards is more important than strict oversight of questionable driving tactics.

OK,OK. I'll ask this then ... your in 2nd place, the tracks paying 100 grand for the winner and let's say 20 for 2nd. You close on the leader in every corner but just can't get it done. The white flag come out. A ha, new race. I hook him and yell brake fade, boiling fluid, heck all the time in victory lane the fluid mustard cooled, me got 100g's and brakes. I'd move somebody for a lot less. You don't race to make friend's. You race to keep the car on da track and feed them youngins

Well, I watched Eddie Carrier Jr not punt Jimmy Owens for a World 100 win. And 100%, it was the right move. Yeah, you wanna do what it takes to win, but personally, race others as I want to be raced. Clean, good, hard racing. Lap 1, lap 99, neither is a place to do someone dirty. If you’re the type as you said who is ok with it, fine. Be ready for a trashed race car, that night or another. And possibly some UFC time.

There’s never a good time to run people dirty, unless you are returning the favor.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

The very best drivers don't need to resort to gutless cheap shots to win races. They win them with driving skill and bravery. It's a distinct form of cowardice and the great ones don't want to win races in that manner, and starvation isn't even a remote posibility.

The Jack Hewitt delivery method of racing justice proved nearly 100% effective throughout his career. He once gave the difference between his portion of the winners share and second place to the guy he "moved" to win a race at Eldora. His conscience and principals wouldn't allow him to let it go without making it right and he exclusively raced for a living his whole career. To my knowledge, and I've known him for a long time, Jack and his family never went hungry. Jack got wrecked deliberately extremely infrequently, and when he did, the perpetrator paid the painful price. Just ask Slammin' Sammy. Rich Vogler was on the receiving end a time or two, as well.
