Shirley said in his interview that he didn't jump the cushion, but had a flat tire.

He may have had a flat by the time he reached the pits and maybe he had a tire going down, but he DEFINITELY jumped the cushion in turn one. After he got out of the mud pile, he was able to get back up to speed and finish 6th.

I also saw it that way fryfan. Shirley was as fast as anyone once he recovered from getting over the berm. Felt bad for Shirley and but felt good for Babb all at the same time.

This was a dam good show for this time of the year. The track developed some holes but that seemed to add a bit to the excitement. Not saying I like rough tracks but it seemed to somewhat force guys to alter their line to avoid the rough spots which in turn might have kept the competition closer and the racing more exciting.

There was a very good crowd on hand, especially considering the weather conditions. I commend those that were there. I got lucky and one of our group had the good sense to get one of the sky boxes. Also, after the late start they ran the program off as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

Hopefully the Saturday night show will be equal in quality to Friday night in regards to exciting racing. The way the wind is whipping one needs to be a hearty soul to brave the elements if you're outside in the bleachers. Everybody have fun!!

The actual track surface was not bad. The rut that formed from 2 off was about the only bad spot.

I will not say the low line they ended up running was an issue because that part of the track wasn't even prepped they just gradually made the line with their cars.

Very nice crowd and I was happy with the show I was given.

I was dissapointed with Larson last night. I was hoping for a good showing

It was evident that everyone was having trouble getting into turn #1. It was a fairly large, but not horribly deep, hole that developed in hot laps. It was in the middle of the track top to bottom at the entrance to turn #1. It seemed that if they hit it dead on it would unsettle the car pretty significantly.

As I said before, the track conditions failed to be detrimental to the racing. In fact, technically speaking it may have enhanced the competition in an off hand way. Of course that is from a spectator point of reference.
