Tst opener updates

16 slm cars. No surprise drivers, mostly all Talladega short track regulars.

I noticed some nice updates to the place. New paint in need spots, updated "facilities", and some added banking on the track.

Super have hotlapped and Jason Hiett was HAULIN @$$! I believe the track record is 12.94. Late model Mark, the announcer, said Hiett went 12.23. I've never seen slm get around this place how Hiett just did.

Hiett takes down track record officially in qualifing. 12.427 around this 1/3 mile

Wow! That is haulin' on a 1/3 mile! That'd be a track record on many of our farm dirt 1/4 miles up north here.

Heats are wrapped up. Short intermission. Had a couple delays with an up side down crate car and a heavy fwd crash. Other than that tst running a pretty tight ship. If I'm ever governor of Al. I'm banning intermissions.

The crate crash happened when a 28 car was spinning out of the first lap of the first heat of this new year. After turning broad side he hit front ends with another guy. That turned his nose back toward the wall and the Lf tire folded under the car and bounced him over on his lid. Guess the control arm broke.

Mario Gresham won the limited feature. The firementioned crash was a limited late model. Not that it's a big deal but needed to clear my own mistake....

Now there IS a crate turned over. Missed the whole thing.

Good to see you and the Mrs. last night Chris. Thank you for coming. Hiett was unreal last night. That LM was so dialed in, so perfect. Never seen a SLM not lift at TST.

Did it get normal talladega slick eventually? What did times slow down to and was it racey with the new banking

it slicked of some , but they were still in the low 13s at end of feature , Got to hand it to Hiett , that was the fastest lap ever turned in a SLM at TST , Track only able to do this about once a year , that 1000 hp engine was hooked up and absolutely flying , I have never saw anyone pitch a car completely sideways at dang near full throttle at the end of the strait away , before even getting to the turn , and it stick and was a rocket through the middle and off , unreal , I would also like to acknowledge my buddy , Joush adkins for a heck of a second place run with that little wedge headed FORD engine , Hiett may have been sand bagging a little at the end , I dont know , but he was not getting away from joush

Talked to LP today and he told me that that banking has actually been reduced slightly by 6 inches at TST. Dang that was awesome.
