It's always easy to fix these kind of problems in the grandstands. Actually the comfort zone for a driver, can become a big problem quickly. It sticks in their head and eats on them at times. All but the very strong minded can let something a little different ruin their lives. I know a crew chief that had to hide what set up was on the car to get a fair test between that and a couple other set ups. One set up was junk if the driver knew, but if he didn't, it went like Jack the Bear. The driver didn't do that intentionally, just a head thing. A practice night sometimes isn't enough to fix things.

Most all drivers can get a car hooked, it's the first part of the go pedal. Keeping it hooked while making speed is the hard part. Pushing the edge where races are won. Only a handful of drivers can do this regularly. The can't if their not comfortable.

The difference in expensive engines is usually cost of parts and longevity. Cheaper cranks, rods, pistons, valve train and they didn't hire that skilled head profiler to do his magic. Some get a good buy on the cheap engine, some don't.

If you have the money to go elsewhere for a powerplant, sure.

I always loved the "pull a plug wire off " , if you pull a plug wire off , i can just about guarantee you will Gaul a piston in a 40 or 50 lap race from washing that cylinder down with fuel. If you are gone run a big powerful engine on a slick track , then you better learn how to gear your car because that is probably where the most is to gain ........
