I managed to catch the end of the autograph session last night at whynot. Several of the guys jumped up and ran off as soon as they were able ,but Overton, Eckert, Marlar, and BMJ were nice enough to take just an extra minute to sign the 2018 tour shirt the wife had just bought. Totally my fault for missing some of the tour regulars because we didn't get there in time ,but I wanted to send thanks to all of them that were not in such a hurry. When I was able to Thank him ,Moyer Jr. gave us a sincere "You're very welcome". Then he goes on to win and is beside himself in his interview. What a self-less act to still acknowledge the fans (as he seems to do every single time he has a chance) and not bask in his own win.... a national level win. Now, I'm no parent so I don't know what he's feeling, but his readiness to get it over with and go home spoke to me for some reason. I hope I don't sound like a bandwagoner, but Billy Moyer Jr earned a new fan outta me last night.

The Beside him self emotions where probably because he got a phone call last night learning his new born daughter isn't doing to well.Originally posted by Chris Thomason View PostI managed to catch the end of the autograph session last night at whynot. I bought some shocks from him over the winter, and in speaking with him on the phone I was certainly left with an impression that he is squared away as a person, and was definitely raised right.
I think that when individuals come from a successful family name, be it in sports or any endeavor, they often become easy targets for some because we assume they have an easy road. There are undoubtedly some perks to having parents or those close to you that have had prior success in whatever it is you're doing, but there also comes a great deal of stress from expectations. All eyes are on you when your last name is Pierce, or Moyer, or Earnhardt (for racing examples).
I once watched a sports special about Roger Clemens and his son, who was playing baseball at Texas University at the time. Roger's wife said the biggest thing she ensured their son understood was "you are not your father." Nothing saying you can't be better in the end, but a reminder to be your own person.
I hope things turn around for their daughter. I don't know specifics and don't need to as it's not our business, but I'm praying she's okay.

I think SR made him work for his seat. I’m sure the last name alone will draw the sponsors. For some strange reason I have a feeling this young man will be around for a while. God bless his baby girl and keep her safe from all sickness. Children are my weak spot fellas and we are blessed to have healthy children. The sky is the limit for what a father will do for his child. Let’s go get em JR!
