I'm looking to make my first trip to LaSalle before this race so how is the setting? Best places to stay? Things to do around till it's time to go to the track

I think LaSalle has one of the better grandstands around. Right up close to the track, and tall enough you can get a great view. It's almost like you're looking down on the action, so up high is my preference on the front straight. I've always liked watching from the back straight as well. So if you get a pit pass, you can check out the cars and watch so close, it's almost like your part of the race.

I'm not sure on specific accommodations, but Oglesby is just south of the track on I-39 and Mendota is about 15 minutes north, so depending on which direction you're coming from, those would be my first spots to check. The track often has a "host hotel" too, so you might check their website.

Being early June, outdoor activities might be a good choice. Starved Rock State Park is just east of LaSalle in Utica (which is a neat, little "touristy" town). They have some great walking trails and picnic areas. Matthiessen Park (just south of Starved Rock) has become a favorite hiking place of mine as well. Some great dells you can walk through. I highly recommend it! There's also a decent golf course just east of the track. And Peru is just west of LaSalle, which has some shopping and dining for most everyone.

You shouldn't have any issue finding stuff to do. I think the Illinois Valley is a great area and LaSalle is one of my favorite tracks. Enjoy your visit!

Way to many tracks DO NOT give refunds. They give you admission to another date which I am not interested if I've traveled from 2-3 hours away. So, no thank you for the buying in advance.

Very disappointed and surprised at this? LaSalle always seems to be packed for any specials they put on. Hate to say it, but I think you can stick a fork in that place now. I'd say Lucas was Tony's last chance. WRG is not gona do them any favors.
