I'm sure everyone has heard countless times for fans to stay away from the fence. This is why your P.A. announcer is always saying it or should always be saying it.

Something like this happened in Mt. Vernon, IL about 15 years ago. A few people in the stands were actually killed.

That's where the DoD write up says it was.

Looking at the racetrack in the last pic, I was interested in the layout of the track so looked at it on maps. Crazy looking track. Wide here narrow there....

That stands is way up off the ground Mindy. I've been to that track.

same with the infield, photographers, track officials, and spectators get way too close to the action at most places I visit. Suprised there aren't more tragedies.
