PORT ROYAL, PA - Rick Eckert of York, Pa., picked up his second straight Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series feature victory by leading all 35 laps of night two of the Bob Weikert Memorial at Port Royal Speedway. Eckert picked up $5,000 for his victory after he won the opener worth $3,000 on Saturday night. Track officials did a great job working the track in after a lengthy rain delay earlier in the night, but the track provided a smooth fast surface. The race saw Eckert jump out to any early lead before a yellow on lap one for Chris Casner who spun in turn four. Jeff Rine jumped into second on the restart and set his sights on catching leader Eckert. A yellow on lap three, and another yellow on lap nine came out for Jason Covert who was suffering mechanical woes. By lap 14, Rine had caught Eckert and was pressuring him as Eckert developed a bad push in his race car. The caution flew on lap 14 as Jared Miley suffered mechanical woes and collected Andy Haus who spun to avoid Miley. By lap 15 the race's hard charger Kyle Lee had worked his way from his 20th starting position to fourth, where he would ultimately finish. A yellow on lap 16 for Mike Lupfer was the final yellow of the event. From there Eckert pulled away from the field through lapped traffic winning by a straightaway at the finish. World of Outlaws sprint car champion Donny Schatz picked up his second straight fifth place finish. The Ultimate Northeast Super Late Model Series will be back in action on Saturday June 9th as the series will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa., to Selinsgrove Speedway for an event paying $3,000-to-win.
