If someone gave me a million plus to start a race team; I'd run off with the money to Canada. I love racing but it is a terrible investment right now.

Maybe they will actually get some cost containment built into the thing, and the economy will continue to grow.. and maybe one day it won't be the bad investment it is today.
Racing or in life only person I can invest in right now, even with imaginary free money is myself.
