Beebe Speedway. 15 minutes from the house, seen plenty of snoozers there but just as many barnburners. Just hate having to drive by there everyday and see it falling apart (even more than it was before it closed). Also Augusta Speedway. Mosquitos were no fun but it was a fast and racy place every time I went. Now it's farmland again. +1 to Delta Bowl as well. Could also add Malden Speedway in MO and the Memphis Motor Speedway dirt track. I never got a chance to see a race there before it became a parking lot.Last edited by wreck; 06-14-2018, 11:57 AM.

Hales Corners...and I'd like to see Slinger return to its roots as a dirt track.
Would have said Oshkosh as well prior to last year. After dealing with them in person, I'm more than ok with 141, Plymouth, and others reaping the rewards or their demise.

c&b, Yep, the Geneva track was just through G-on-Lake as you turned south toward Geneva itself. Had a fence that consisted of some short poles in the ground with a couple of cables horizontal around them, no wire fencing. It also featured no grandstands and everyone just sat on their car hoods to watch the wheels and parts flying over you. When I grew up in Ashtabula we lived for the Lake in the summer, sneaking in the burlesque show and bars and chasing the college girls. Ohio drinking age was 18 for 3.2% beer. Track ran from the mid '50s till early '60s. The racing was mostly pre WWII coupes same as at the Jefferson Fairgrounds track and was no holds barred. Geneva also had a woman promoter, nearly unheard of back then. A different world from now.
