That's a great question but Birky has a lot of rust in the elbows by now. A lot has changed since he slid past Bloomer high at Knoxville and Rauen may have top notch equipment but nobody is going to say he's got a top notch setup. It would take a miracle for him to win the first night out after so long, and if he did go on to run the rest of the crown jewels he would have to get some serious seat/setup time in between now and then to be a contender.
I am sure my opinion will be as popular as Bloomer not pi$$ing in a cup or Bobby pulling the dirtiest slider since sliding out of his mom but hey, it's what I think on the subject.

Actually Brian hasn't been out of the setup game as long as you'd think. It wasn't but a couple months ago Simpson mentioned having him at his shop helping go thru his longhorn before his win at LaSalle. Simpson has as good of equipment as anyone also. It's still an uphill battle, but don't think Brian isn't paying attention to what's going on. I wouldn't doubt that Brian has been preparing the car and testing some for while. I do agree that not competing at least weekly puts a guy at a disadvantage though.Originally posted by MotoMatt View PostThat's a great question but Birky has a lot of rust in the elbows by now. I agree with this assessment. Was a huge Birky fan but being away that long will make it a tough battle. Was kind of disappointment with the last comeback. Hope this one's better.Originally posted by MotoMatt View PostThat's a great question but Birky has a lot of rust in the elbows by now. Promoters are frequently taken to task for lack of effort and initiative. This one wouldn’t be cheap and maybe not for all but it’s an interesting play given Birky’s strong appeal in that region. Like to see more of these; Kelly Boen at I80 comes to mind.I hate time trials.

I would say 20-25 cars would be a fair expectation. I think 30 would be pushing it. I'm just hoping for enough to have a full A main. Looking forward to the show regardless. I'll be rooting for the 15B (or 30?) and 157!Originally posted by bullring View PostWhat kind of car counts would you guys guess for Dubuque? There aren't a lot of open late models in that area are there?

I’d say about 30 cars max. Will be a great field nonetheless and good to have racing in Iowa again.
