this track has a history of being named after the owners. It was named Kamp Speedway, owned by the Kamp family. Before that it was called Henry's Speedway named after the owner, Avery Henry.

I hate to see any track close down. Seen some great races there over the years. I hope the track can make a strong come back after this is all said and done.

Growing up, this was my home track. That said, the place has always had problems with keeping promotors. Even the Pierce's couldn't turn a profit.

They though it be easy and found out it was a lot of work. All the people that worked for them did not like working for next to nothing.

I had always heard through the years that the fairboard is tough to work with. Plus there is not a lot of disposable income in the local economy around Danville. Again, tough to swallow since this is my hometrack and hometown. Even my gearhead buddies never went out there unless it was for Monster Trucks or something.
