Recommendations on places to stay in St. Louis/ things to do during the day

Casinos, Anheuser Busch tour, The Arch tour, the museum under the Arch, St Louis Zoo, strip clubs on the east side....

Most hotels in downtown are 4 or 5 star hotels so id recommend staying on east side in ill Collinsville, Ofallon, Edwardsville area are all within 10 min of the dome...

The arch is very cool to see, hopefully you're not afraid of heights or claustrophobic if you're able to get in it. There is a pole position electric go kart track that is located about 20-30 mins away from the dome. Another that is cool to see is the flood wall down past the stadium. There are some really cool things that are painted on that wall.

The Holiday Inn is the host hotel right across street from pit entrance. The Marriott is at the end of the block and after crossing the street you can walk through convention center. Both a prices the same at about $150/night.

As mentioned above, staying on IL side is quite a bit cheaper. We stayed in Pontoon Beach at Best Western a couple years ago and it was good with a few places to eat nearby.

Depends on what you like to do. It's a big enough city that you can find something to check out for whatever your interest is. Good eats and drinks all around StL. If you have kids in tow, take them to "City Museum" -- might be the coolest place anywhere for kids with some energy to burn off. The Blues (NHL) are out of town that weekend but they usually play in the evenings anyway. I agree with the other suggestions, staying in O'fallon, Edwardsville, Collinsville, maybe Pontoon Beach is the easier/cheaper way to go though you won't find many activities around there. Play in StL, stay in the Metro East.

We stay at the casino across the street, which is full of race fans; Once we park when arriving it's uber the rest of the weekend. Hooters on Saturday morning is full of race fans, generally a really good time. I can't think of the name right now, but there's a restaurant/bar that all the waitress have painted on tops instead of shirts.
