Sad to see yet another small team dissipate. Hopefully he can find a way to keep it going in the future but it doesn’t look good for any small teams. Late model racing is a rich persons game and it isn’t changing.

While I know it wasn’t fancy, if he owned it, there was that big hauler. Could have had a 28-34’ enclosed trailer and a pick up. Had Oakley’s, and I believe pretty nice personal vehicle/vehicles from his posts that I could see. If they aren’t his, then I stand corrected.

But there’s ways to trim costs before you say screw it. And never try to compete as far as unneeded accessories if you cannot afford them. Put the money in the car, not the other fancy stuff.

Thank you CnB! I've said this for years when these guys quit racing. Stop trying to be something you aren't. If you truly love to race, race what you can afford. The regional guy wants to be a national hero, the local guy wants to be a regional hero, the 4 cylinder guy wants to be a late model hero. Are cost a little ridiculous? Yes. But I have zero sympathy for guys that race beyond their means and what they can afford to do right.

This isn't the first time Jon has stepped away for financial reasons, and I suspect this won't be the last time, either. I tend to think he races until it starts to affect his lifestyle, then quits for a while and saves some money to go racing again. Rinse/wash/repeat.

Seems as though there is plenty of tracks reasonably close to his area that don't require a national touring setup. What guys are doing is outspending themselves.

It makes sense that drivers would want to race one class above their talents because that's where the challenge is.

It’s the same story with this guy every year. If you can’t afford a late model, sell it and run a modified until you figure out how you can afford a late model. He did well in the mods before so I would think a return would be an opportunity to build some positive momentum. And there are some well-paying modified races out there, almost as good as local and regional late model races.

Mods are getting just as expensive. Especially to run the bigger money races and have a chance to finish top5-top3

I know John Webber wasn't in the best of health at one time a couple years ago. It sucks to see another racer step back for a few. I feel like he's one of the best with what he has.
