I wish some more guys from MI would've made the main event at the Dream or World and had good finishes.

I remember this race fairly well. It flat poured and made the camp ground we were staying in a mess. I remember waking up sometime throughout the night and seeing a couple of my friends that had decided to stay in a tent beside us, just getting beat with their tent by the wind. The wind had pulled the stakes from the ground, and all you could see was what looked like 2 dead bodies holding the tent down. There were tractors hooking to 300k+ rvs and dragging them out of the camp ground.

That was one of the better day races I remember ever seeing though.

My first World was that year. Most rain Iâ€™ve ever seen at a racetrack which was fine with me, meant another day at the track. We attempted to tent camp but ended up sleeping mostly in our vehicle.

Day racing sucks but it wasnâ€™t a bad race. My thought on the 200+ car count and the format back then is, qualifying took so long that I was never sure why fans would want to sit through it. Iâ€™m generally someone who likes qualifying but a whole night of it was a bit much.

I remember Thursday was fun had 150 or so cars on the grounds. Then Friday the rest came in and it rained after a couple hotlap sessions then track got redone and was out of their like at 4a.m. Saturday was nice til about 4 or 5 and then rain all night. Sunday was nice and great racing. 200 plus cars was a lot. I still think the last great World 100 was in 2009 and they had 172 cars. Now its more manageable with 110 or so.

New format killed the world 100 and any chance the little guy had. Tires, fuel, pit passed etc. Lost luster and ain't been back

The new format is way better from a fans perspective.

I love the new format. More racing! I never used to want to make the trip up to see a whole night of single car qualifying, etc.
What exactly was the old format? I've forgot because the new one is so exciting to me as a race fan! A RACE fan, not a QUALIFY fan...

Seems as though there's more tracks and series now running against it and the Dream that keeps cars away. But the format hasn't run people off it's just the overall costs in general not just to run the Dream or World but a LM at a competitive level itself.

Used to be 2 rounds qualifying which you drew for. Top 120 times made up 6 heats of 20 cars Saturday. 121-180 was non qualifier races......... For a fan yea format means more racing but also more admission prices. For teams you now have 3 nights to tear up and fix equipment if happens, 3 nights worth of tires, fuel, engine wear etc. You think that don't keep teams away your crazy. I'll give ya costs have hurt things but it ain't only reason less cars

With the new format a team can make 350 just showing up but take almost 100 for a pit pass and then tires for 3 nights and fuel and lodging and food and all it can cost 2 to 3,000 for a big team or 1,000 for a little team. The old format it was 45 for a pit pass and you got what 100 for a non qualifier race. Also entry fees were not as high it was 50 to enter now its 125.

For years drivers always complained about never getting laps on the track. The new format now gives them an opportunity to make money 3 nights instead of 1 night.

IMO, thereâ€™s not much room for â€œthe little guyâ€ at Eldora. That race is the most prestigious there is and itâ€™s foolish for someone with no money to go out and compete on that stage. Thereâ€™s racetracks all over the country to race that way at. Seems thereâ€™s always a few cars there that are dangerously off the pace. That kind of thing is what gets people hurt (look at that wreck last year with McDowell while he was leading).

I get while theyâ€™re there and believe me I would be too if I had a car but sometimes from a safety point, itâ€™s not worth it.

The new format is awesome and had made the racing better in every way. I also believe the majority of late model drivers and fans believe itâ€™s better now.
