    Green Mamba Jet Car Incident

NORWAY — Friday night racing at Norway Speedway came to a halt when a pre-race event ended in a fatal crash. The Green Mamba, a jet-powered exhibition dragster driven by Douglas Rose of Ring Town, Penn., sped down the straightaway of the third-mile oval and into the dirt when it turned over and ejected the […]

I know the Green Mamba Jet Car has been a long time addition to many race nights. There was apparently an incident in which the driver passed away.

Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends, and all the fans that unfortunately witnessed this.

I remember the green mamba at Sycamore as a kid. Never seen a jet car before. Left a lasting impression.... My thoughts are with the loved ones.

RIP. Doug Rose was at least a 2nd gen. driver, but I may be thinking of the Arfons family.

I wonder if any of us hadn't seen him. It was a cool thing to see every time even after seeing it many times.

Just watched a video on this about the history of the green momba and driver. He had a bad wreck yrs ago and lost both of his legs. He rebuilt it and continued his shows. Then it got stolen and they found it all in pieces to be sold for parts so they rebuilt another one. Interesting history. I would post it on here but im to dumb to figure it out as i have tryed in the past.

Thanks for the link, that is cool as hell. It’s awesome that he did that for over 50 years. I saw him up at Spartan Speedway, in Michigan, about 30 years ago.

That's pretty interesting. Was 80 and lost his lower legs in 66. Never knew about the legs. Used to see him at Santa Fe, before the internet days.
