It was actually the wrong thing to do, but they didn't have 60# springs back then.

definitely not kidding.......All I saw for my first 10 years before 1998 was one groove follow the leader races. very rare was a pass on the outside or multiple grooves were non-existent!

Can't agree the racing is better now. To much about equipment and less about what's in the seat.

...Skip was the first to do the LR shock behind the axle (on the hook) setup. To say that was a turning point for the sport would be an understatement.

Skip will be missed. As to the hook, I wish he'd never done that. To me, "On The Hook" its like 9/11, there was how things were before it and how things are after it. Water under the bridge, but Skip aka "The Professor" was/is a great wheel and chassis guy.
