Been wondering about this for awhile just thought I’d ask. When driver on Lucas or WOO race how is the pay done with drivers who don’t drive for themselves, such as JD, Tmac, BShepp, etc. ect....I’m sure most of it is put back into the cars, but assuming the driver has to support a family how does it work do they get say 10% if they win or wherever they finish or they on salary. Always wondered that thanks

There are all kinds of deals out there.
When i was in the pavement world some guys got as much as 40% of the winnings if they worked on the car and made some money. Others got a paycheck and a %... a couple were paid by a sponsor for a basic wage and had a seperate deal with the car owner.
If you bring sponsor cash with you it's another deal....Member of the Luxemburg Speedway Hall of Fame

My background is DLM here in the Southeast. 20+ years ago all the hired guns I knew got 40% of what the car made, except Buck Simmons, he got 50%. Most of the ones I knew had day jobs or a business they ran. Seems like Davey Johnson is a Tug Boat captain, always thought that was neat. Jack Pennington did lots of things with heavy equipment, buying & selling, grading, whatever came up. Stan Massey was into trucking, had his own dump truck for a while and does long haul now.“Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.†— The Dude
