reading some of the post from Facebook and 4m. I think some misinterpreted what was posted.

Here is what was posted last night.

My goal with this event has nothing to do with being the highest paid race ever at the track or in Illinois ect that was all a bad choice of words I used. My goal is to put money in all the racers hands at the end of this event and be able to provide a great event that will cost the fans less money to see we could just put a number out there saying we are going to pay $50000 or $100,000 and automatically become one of the biggest shows but if we are ever going to get back to having a 100 cars show up for these events and at least 40 to 50 for your other events that pay well we have to stop feeding the top that's why this event may surprise everyone at the amount to win when done and said but take it from me a former racer and a promoter that has been doing this for a long time it's more important for us the promoters and are fans to realizes this is the easiest and quickest way to put more money in the sport as a whole like I said I can announce today I'm going to pay 50k to win this event and not add anymore real money to the purse and charge everyone more money but at the end of the day only one person is better off at the end of the event and everyone else paid for it. The pay structure and race format will allow for us to pay more across the board and allow us to show the fan more for their money isn't that what it's about a better show for the fan !
The sport will be much better when we start paying more to all the performers. I want to touch on one more thing how many of you would go help Trump build this wall he is offering $50,000 to the guy who lays the most bricks the quickest 10k to the second quickest guy and 2k to the 24th quickest guy and the rest of you get a 100 bucks to get to work and it cost you more then 100 bucks to get to work! Not sure many would go back because they can't take a chance at only getting a 100 bucks again. We git to start paying all the performers better that helps us put on this event and I hope I just showed you where the money can come from to do this ! Thanks again

husker: i'm originally from over your way and you have been fortunate with what joe has done with I-80 after craig left. a quick look to towards eastern iowa shows that change isn't always good.

but now that i'm where I am at in SE WI, I welcome any and everything tony tries. been to lasalle and other tony promoted events (wilmot) and have to give credit to the guy for busting his a$$ to make things right with the fans and the racers.

does he have a communication problem? maybe. but I have never felt like he was trying to fill his pockets with money at my expense. so I will be back to as many races as I can when he puts his heart on the line.

Putting my promoters hat on again...

Back in my pavement days we had a group of racers who realized a top heavy purse was no way to operate either for the weekly guys or the occasional special event.

The guys I worked for at Capital in Oregon, WI were dirt racers running a paved track... they were one of the top local teams but struggled when running NDRA, Stars, etc. They felt the sting in the pocketbook when they made those long tows only to either run just a b main or finish in the back in a feature.

The racers of the CWRA club, too, were smart enough to want a little less on top and more down the line.

But, when running a big event, you really needed to sweeten the winners pay. The out of towners needed something to get them here. IIRC our first "special" we ran without a sanction we paid $2,000 to win. Second was around $750... but last was around $400. Kinda spread the wealth a bit.

This deal gave our regulars a chance to make a bit more if they made the show. And the non-regulars would still get more than tow money if they didnt do well.

This was back in the 80's btw.

Time will tell what Izzo has in mind...

I’ll always be behind anything tony does. Guy puts his butt on the line for a lot of these shows. Drivers seem to respect him, there always seems to be a good mix of drivers at his late model shows. And lasalle is usually a racy track just wish they ran more shows last few years.

Bottom line. Two million dollars worth of race cars running for a feature purse of $100,000 approx. It really doesn't make much difference what the purse structure is.

And you have to have incentive to win or place high, or you will get a parade, and live to race another day.

Every body gets paid the same is Socialism.

You can't hide the truth and the truth is, is that the purses are not big enough to pad every bodies pockets. And that's because the number of fans determine the purses overall.

Thats a interesting way to look at it, 2 million dollars in cars 24 top shelf SLMs (Eldora could say that) racing for a purse of what ? 200k total (Dream?), maybe 250 i have never looked at the whole purse break down.

You can also look at it this way, $40 bucks times 25k people is 1 Million. Were there that many people at the Dream etc? Add in all the other Pit Passes etc.

Someone is making some $$ but its not the racers...

Maybe it’s just me, but I want tracks making money so races continue to happen. Just because a track makes a ton of money on one weekend. Doesn’t mean they are making any money every other weekend.

I won’t make heads or tails of what Tony is doing because the race hasn’t even happened and there literally nothing but talk so far. If it does actually happen, let’s not treat this like it’s some earth shattering thing. Other promoters have certainly had the idea, but most want that wow factor about the race. Let’s be honest anything under 30k to win doesn’t pull that much attention outside of the area it’s being held. The RaceSaver nationals at Eagle pay 2500 to win, 1250 to start. I’m sure we can find more examples.

In the case of that track, Yep somebody is making a killing and the Greenville banks are happy!!!
