Constructive criticism or “bashing “

Why is it if anything negative about any aspect of racing taken as “bashing “ Have Racers, Fans,and Promoters all evolved to entitlement status. If it’s truth then why not say it????

Answer to the thread question is because "feelings "get hurt........can't have that in America anymore.

A lot depends whether you are the giver or the recipient of said criticism / bashing. People have lost the ability to be objective and no longer want to address their concerns directly with one another.

Also there are many people that only look to find things to criticize. Something can be amazing in nearly every aspect and there are those who look for every single way to burn it down. It is what this country has become. A world of complainers that only happy when they are unhappy.

Also criticism vs. bashing is all in the presentation. If you have a problem or suggestion I want to hear about it. But I don't want to hear about it when you are yelling or calling me names. Because that is just going to piss me off and then I don't actually hear what you say and know if I actually need to address it. There is a right time and way for everything. People have lost the ability to interact and discuss things. Everyone thinks on black and white now. There are no areas of gray. Its their opinion and the only one that matters.

I will def do my share of criticism, because I want people to see both sides of the coin and not just be sheeple. At first I thought the trolling was the younger generation and immaturity, but ive realized its also many adults out there who live a pitiful existence and need attention any way they can get it. Social media has brought this behavior to the forefront. I have not been on this site since the beginning but id be willing to bet the trolls didnt start on this site til fb and twitter started booming...

There is a difference in the presentation between bashing and constructive criticism. Well run tracks are able to tell the difference and use the constructive criticism to their advantage while disregarding the bashing for what it is.

People use the term "trolls" on here but can never name names. I've only really known of one and that's Phil.

I agree with Josh. Good tracks/promoters are able to separate the two.

Most of the bashing is highly personable or targeted in nature, while constructive criticism goes more like, "track A would be better for families if they ran 4 or 5 classes instead of 8, and ended their program by 10-10:30pm instead of 1am."

Like BBQ said, the problem is people get their feelings hurt and WE can't have that.

Nothing at all wrong with constructive criticism. However, when the same person criticizes the same things, week after week, year after year, it's just plain bashing and isn't worth the time to read.

Exactly, and I can give a recent example of this. Since I moved to Georgia five years ago, Screven has been one of my local tracks. One thing we didn't like though, was that everyone had to purchase a pit pass, even though we usually don't enter the pit area when we bring a large group with us. There were no grandstand-only tickets. For that reason, we skipped a lot of their races. Then they changed their policy and started selling both grandstand and pit passes. Now we go to all of their big shows. For an event back in the fall, we had a group of 14 people. Had the track not changed their ticket policy, our group wouldn't have been there. This was a perfect example of a promoter listening to criticism and making some changes. We will now support Screven every chance we get.
