There are at least four Late Model classes, sometimes on the same night.

Is there such a thing as too much of a good thing?

Yes. 2 is enough. Supers and limiteds.

Absolutely! I've heard it from fans on more than one occasion that there are too many cars that look exactly the same. The other problem is that the lap times between the Crate and Limited is pretty equal and in a lot of cases there are barely enough of each of those 2 classes to have a decent field. I think they should be combined. Then have a 602 class where regular oil shocks are required and body rules are strictly enforced. The 602 class should take the place of what most places around my area call "Modified Hobby". Then have a decent Street Stock class similar to what they run in IMCA or in the North East. I'd love to see open wheel mods come to our region too.

A few years ago CJ Rayburn started a series that gave a weight break and or spoiler advantage to cars with a CT 525 engine. I know a lot of people might have hated the idea, but if it gets full fields for local shows, maybe its worth looking into again.

There’s too many classes period but if you ask me it’s beside the point when talking about a tracks best practices. More important than classes, promoters need to worry about time. Time is something not even Warren Buffet can’t purchase. If you have long delays and the show drags on for 5 or 6 hours you’re not going to get many people to come back. Look at NFL, NHL or NBA games and people are filing out to beat traffic early if the game is lopsided. Racing is no different. I can’t think of anything, except for the bar, that people attend for over 2 or 3 hours.

short answer YES, they have figured out how to pay less(crates , limited, etc), lates should be lates, they have lower classes of racing but i always get hung for this answer, they would have weekly racing if they would combined all of the purses different late purses but common sense who needs that???, 2000 to win weekly shows and it would slowly build again

Run them all together with weight breaks... back in the day we had Fords, Mopars, Chevies, Buicks et al running together. Big blocks, sbc's, Ford 353/390/406, Hemis and more altogether. Nobody bitched if they got beat.

Too many classes and too many different configurations of the same class of cars.. There should be 1 rule book to define what a SuperLateModel is across the whole United States same for Modifieds. Promoters and people trying to build their own sanctioning body are breaking up classes to benefit their own agenda. Even sanctioning groups like Lucas WoO and Ump set their own unique rules that separate touring cars from local cars......1 rule book per class of car.
