I wonder what Rumley & JD took in total during their historical season, if $750,000 was 1st place money.Originally posted by ZERO25 View PostBarry Wright may consider his and Bloomers 1995 year, the best ever! Over $500k in winnings!

With the rising cost, I would guess Barry and Bloomer still had more profit.

Yeah I don’t know what Donnie did the rest of that season but one million bucks, I don’t think anybody is beating that, could break it down many ways, ( 10, $100,000 to win races ........20, $50,000 to win races ........ 100, $10,000 to win races, I’ve never seen anybody have any season like those. Even the fuel and general costs saved by winning a million in a 100 laps, 1 weekend. Insane.

Which raises the question, do these guys get to keep all of their winnings? Im pretty sure these guys are getting 1099ed right, its income the irs is getting theirs, so if the checks in their name they better dang well get to keep it all. Say last year if Pierce had to split purses with DB, how do they sort that out at tax time?

Of course the driver isn't getting all of the money. When you register at the track, the form you fill out has you specify who gets paid, and it's the owner's name or business that is getting written down. Drivers on the national tours racing in someone else's equipment usually make around 30%.Originally posted by Illtsate32 View PostWhich raises the question, do these guys get to keep all of their winnings? Right when I drove for someone we put down his name for the check to be written to at the end of the night. The reason I questioned is the name on the fake check when they win is the driver. So I wasnt sure but I guess its safe to say that the prize $ is written to the car owner even though the winner circle check is in the drivers name..Originally posted by mcarter815 View PostOf course the driver isn't getting all of the money. I talked to his wife and she told me he retired the car and kept it as a memento. I think, not sure, but I think he got most of the purse if not all. She said the taxes were a drag. IOW he was car ownerOriginally posted by ZERO25 View PostIm pretty sure Donnie wasn't the team owner ie, he didn't get all the money!
I read somewhere that he got to keep the car and still has it!
