maybe shouldn't come back here, but here goes...
when I was a kid Sanger and Hansen were winning everything everywhere. and there was an earlier generation that included bob kosiski that did the same thing all throughout the Midwest. they were my heroes. so maybe my bias is what has me saying they were as good as anyone racing any where at that time.
and with that as my foundation, I am saying put them in this time frame, they would be just as competitive (dominating) today as they were way back then.
and a question for MUD MAESTRO, cause I enjoy your opinions: Boley. where does his legacy fit considering the timing of his career and finally get the opportunity to go big time?
fyi... I enjoy threads like this! And the days that I keep my gratitude higher than my expectations, well, I have really good days - Ray Wylie Hubbard

Best memory of Steve Boley.....National tour maybe Xtreme [Lucas} at Davenport. Boley never lifting on the big flat half mile. Pretty hard to do with little banking in the corners. Thought Boley went beserk for those quick 18 second lol......As i recall Boley started his career early 1990's in the NASCAR Busch series with little successs. Later, on the Busch Allstar dirt series he did win the champonship in 2000. Just winning that series alone and a little politicking, gives him a chance to enter the Dirt Late model Hall of Fame......Nice to see so many Iowans land in the Hall.........just a personal note.... My all time favorites were Ernie Derr {the best of them all] and Red Droste a great bull ring driver.

Absolutely, a fan favorite and deservedly so. Babb could add more excitement to a 10 lap heat race than some drivers could accomplish in an entire season. OT but the mention of Darren Miller caught my attention. Dropped out of racing way too early, for me he brought an added air of excitement when he rolled out for hot laps.I hate time trials.

MUD, those memories you bring up of Davenport, Iowa put a smile on my face! I remember one night at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds in Pecatonica, Illinois Steve Boley and Kevin Weaver put on an epic show with Weaver nipping Boley in the last couple of laps!Originally posted by MUD MAESTRO View PostBest memory of Steve Boley.....National tour maybe Xtreme [Lucas} at Davenport. I feel honored to have seen Ernie Derr race. It was a USAC 100 miler at Springfield on the mile. I was a grade school kid at the time but I remember that red and white #1 Ernie Drove that day.Last edited by CIRF; 02-14-2019, 10:13 AM.

Not even a question to me. Almost 100 hell tour wins and brought many fans to the edge of their seat. No one man runs a bullring cushion like Babb
