Why bother scheduling races so early in the year?

The weather is iffy so why do tracks schedule early season races?

    I offer my thoughts.

It's a no-brainer...because it's a gigantic money maker if the weather is nice. Everybody has cabin fever and needs to get out.

During my promoting days we figured the earlier we could get some of our off season expenses returned the better.

No different than racers investing thousands over the winter, promoters have all sorts of off season expenses that come out of their pockets before the season starts. Weather may be iffy but promoters take a similar chance every week during the regular season.

It’s because most tracks only have a tiny window of opportunity to schedule a big event. You take the date that’s available and hope for the best.
