Why don't ya run it on Sunday?

Why don't ya just run it on Sunday? Well that has been the call from a number of race fans we've heard from. Some of these folks like the Coca Cola man, the Helena Hustler and "Bud Ice Steve" and others have opined to me thru the years after a rain out or early season times. Saying, well they worked back in the day, even though Sunday day shows in these modern times are not entirely condusive to super successful front, back gate, or great racing, we are going against the grain by opening our season with a Sunday, day show on March 17. Gates open at 11:00 with hot laps at 1:00 and racing at 2:00. These folks have asked for it, so here ya go. We are taking a risk with this race, so I hope these same folks who haves asked for this show up and this race runs well.

Good luck with it, can't think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon after church than to streak out to a dirt race......
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

We did some Sunday day openers back in my pavement promoting days. Easier than a dirt track without worrying about track prep but the fans were happy to sit in sunshine during April in WI.

Good luck and congrats on having the initiative to try something different.
        I hate time trials.

Hope it works out for the best, Mark. I wouldn't be surprised if it does.

I remember back in the day when Kankakee, Illinois scheduled racing on Sunday afternoon's early in the season and IIRC they had good crowds and good car count.

Our local track ran Sunday nites for 40+ years. Packed the joint. Then they sold it and new people.decided to monkey with it. (Fridays). Went to heck in a hand basket. Unbelievable. Now ithe place is on life support. Sad.

CIRF I remember that. Remember when they open on Easter Sunday a few times and had one heck of a field of cars and fans in the stands.

When I posted I was thinking that KKK's first event of the year was on Easter Sunday a couple of times. I wasn't positive so I didn't mention it. Thanks for jogging my memory and confirming my hunch. IIRC, they got very lucky with the weather having opening day on Easter more than once which obviously helped crowd and car count, as well. Do you recall what time in the afternoon they got things started?

North Georgia Speedway used to open their season with a Sunday afternoon race. I always looked forward to it. Usually had a pretty good turn out.

With Dixie's $5k Opener on Sat, this should help both tracks this weekend. Great move! Sunday works well for Rome!!

We are hoping for the best with this venture, thankfully, the weather will be excellent for this daytime show. The Super Late Models will headline the show along with 5 other classes.

TST has spent some money with television ads in the region that look pretty good as well as some other outlets to get the word out. We are trying to use other outlets besides the usual internet and social media platforms.

Hope that you have a great turnout of cars and fans to help support this new venture. I know Cherokee runs Sunday day races to start their season and it is ussually a pretty good turn out and its nice to be in the sunshine

Hoping for the best to you guys Mark. On the advertisement side...... Have your guys to look into wjox 94.5, over in B'ham. If your not familiar with it, it's a 24 hour sports talk station with around 14 hours of local programs. Just an idea, hope to be there Sunday.

Dallas Cooper wins Slm. Fair field of about 15 cars

Bubba Lackey won the iron headed class.

Sam Seawright took the crate win. Highlight of the day so far has been Ahnna Parkhurst coming from deep to finish seond. Started 8th, maybe 10th.

Not that many people missed me but I'm back... sometimes new jobs don't work out. That said, I'm going on another tour of "races that don't matter" (to some folks) and will try to update like I did before.

Thanks to Tst for gettin me some fresh air.
