Smoky Mountain Speedway Worth 4 Hour Trip?

I say it would be worth the trip I go to Smoky mountain a lot and really enjoy it every time plus they've done a lot of work to the facility and track over the all season. One of the big draws of Smoky mountain is there only running three classes so should be out at a very decent hour

In years past, I have to say I don't think SMS offered that great of racing. Compared to the likes of Brownstown (IN) Speedway, Florence (KY) Speedway and Eldora (OH) Speedway, I always found SMS offering very little, if any, passing or slicing/dicing for position. I say that knowing they turned very fast speeds, etc. but I can't really say the racing is competitive. It seems like too much of a choo choo train type racetrack BUT HAVING SAID THAT, it's my understanding that they have cut down the banking in the turns considerably since last year, making the turns wide/broader and supposedly, it is to offer for MUCH BETTER/COMPETITIVE RACING. I haven't been there since last year, so I really can't say to be honest with you.

Yes I think it will be worth your drive, they have taken some banking out of the turns and widened the turns quite a bit they have also made a new track entrance off of turn two and really widened that section of the track it is the same length overall just wider now. They held an open practice last week and everyone from front wheel drive to super late models seemed to really like the track, the drivers all had positive feedback and really liked the improvements in track prep and the facility upgrades

The track was completely reconfigured in the offseason so nobody will be able to give an educated opinion. But from what I've seen the reconfiguring will only help because the racing wasn't the greatest there. I thought the facility was pretty nice though.

I haven’t been in a couple of years since moving back north but the races I’ve seen there were ho hum. It was a speed plant for sure but not a whole lot of racing...a bunch of follow the leader. Can’t help but think the racing will be better if they’ve reconfigured. Gonna find out in person on Saturday as we’re heading south for Duck River and SMS

I would have to agree not much passing just a fast train race , but with all the work and changes to the track over the winter I think we're going to see a real good race
