It’s a weird place, you pay when you pull in the gate and then it’s pretty much a free for all for parking and everything else. Not saying that’s a bad thing. I always spend the extra money there and get a pit pass. Standing in turn 3 is pretty awesome.

Also as mentioned it seems they run out of food early often in the night.

Fairgrounds atmosphere

Farmer City is a great fairgrounds atmosphere. Good camping area, pay admission at the gate. Lots of room on the grounds. Racetrack generally produces a good show.

Facilities are not the greatest and as wildman said, they have been known to run out of food, although in recent years no problems.

Get out there early rc75, you'll enjoy the place and the racing rarely disappoints.

Try to sit on the front stretch and as high as possible since the banking of the track can block the view for a few hundred feet in turn four. If you can't sit on the front stretch, the back stretch bleachers are actually a really good view of the track but for me it is a little bit of a weird image to the eye. Below average amenities include the sound system and the bathrooms but the racing action makes up for it. Food is good and beer is cold for $3. Since parking is a free-for-all, try to park somewhere that looks like would be easy to get out since there is only one exit. They make it two lanes getting out after the races but it can be a cluster. Enjoy your weekend.

Just have to watch on what seats have been reserved an not been reserved.

It is a good track. Couple recommends for food in the town. Dewey’s Drive In is a good little hamburger and ice cream place. Fish Wagon has good fish. Illini 100 has produced some great racing over the years.

Are you allowed to take coolers in.

Id say yes to the small hand held coolers but no to the big ones as the stands will be full. So a cooler would take up a seat.

No scoreboard, and you can't hear the announcer so you have to count the laps on your fingers

You will most likely see a good race, but the facility will leave you disappointed. I prefer to sit as high as possible in turn 1 (again, there may be some seats reserved so make sure the seat is available). That point of view is not cluttered by all the support posts/fencing of the covered grandstands. Download Race Monitor to keep up with names and lap counts because you won't be able to hear the announcer and there is no scoreboard.

You can take a small radio or use your phone with headphones and tune to 87.9 FM to listen to the announcer.

You can also use Race Monitor app to keep track of laps and positions. I did that last week at Lasalle. Really hard to guess how many laps are left in those long races and helps id guys you don’t know.
