I agree with the last 3 years comment. And as far as 2015, for prob the best year on record for anyone ever, ya he was not as polished, and even I'd he did make the mistakes you say it was his style and aggressiveness that gave him a few tenths along with the car...

I am not saying he couldn't drive. But, I know for a fact the device was worth 5 tenths.

Data does not lie. It ain't worth that on a 2019 xr1, but it is on a 2014 blue grey.

Ever analyzed lap times from 2015? Ever tested a device? That's how you know what it's worth. It's rare to improve so many physics problems at the same time. Items that fix one are often worth a tenth alone.

A great deal of the #6's success was Davenport, not Rumley's "device". Many forget that fact.

They won 8 or 9 crown jewel type races in 2015 with the device and won 1 such race in 2016 without it. I think that device played into that success a little more than you give it credit for.
That little so called device helped bring about maybe the best season anyone has ever had in a late model. If it wasn't such a advantage, He wouldn't have fallen off as much as they did in 2016.
And yes. JD is a wheelman. No argument there.
