At this point of the season are the two cars about where you would have expected, worse, or better than you expected? Hanging around mid to lower half of the top 10 points, it’s a long season but they’ve got work to do.

Don is about where I expected. Just out of learning a new race car and new crew chief. Josh is not really that far off from where I expected him,2-5 in points and having a broken thumb isn’t helping him at allComment

Drivers who show up on race day with their helmet in hand tend to not be as successful in dirt racing as they are in other forms of motorsports, for whatever reason.
I had a feeling this is how it would go when I heard Josh say he wouldn't be at the shop working on the cars. It's a shame IMO, the team has a ton of potential.Comment

Think it has become clear why Josh is not in rocket 1 any longer. Yea, it's been what 3 yrs , you look at the best ride. First year, with one of the most respected crew chiefs out there and without question a connection with the house car. Second year he couldn't get far enough away from being a team guy. He gets in a CBR ride and expects to be a bag driver. I'm beginning to wonder if he carries a personal red carpet.
You can't tell me he can't walk over to the big blue valvoline rig and discuss issues. For what Brandon has accomplished that seat is his as long as he keeps performing the same.
Don O'Neal has had some bad luck. The season is early and I think once we get into the summer months your going to see him up front more often.Comment

And he was just as good as Brandon in the House car. I do think he is probably not very hands on right now, and he needs to be.
I figured Josh might be around 3rd, and Don about where he is, maybe 5th. Though it is the CBR ride.Up in the air who my next “favorite†driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normalâ€.Comment

May not be popular here but actually like Clint, he’s more transparent than some of his counterparts in NASCAR. Like to see that organization have more success although wouldn’t want to see them dominate, just compete for titles on a more consistent basis. Something has just never seemed optimal about their program.I hate time trials.Comment

It seems like top drivers who win a lot go to CBR and all of a sudden can't win any races. From what I've heard, Clint wants his guys to setup the cars and doesn't want any input from the drivers. You'd think with the experience that the drivers have at setups and winning, Clint would value their knowledge and use it to win.Comment

Everyone has equal input. In Don's case, he's no setup guy and isn't afraid of admitting it, so he relies on the #5 team to put a car under him. Josh's problem is communication. He's very hands on with the cars, but struggles with normal conversation. Which in turn hurts his communication with the #14 team.
Mark Richards in involved with these cars as much as he can be.
IMO, their biggest issue is being content with top 5s, very NASCAR-ish.Comment

Escobar, you say Josh is hands on ??? He shows up at the track with his helmet bag. The cars are kept in North Carolina. The only time he is hands on is putting tear offs on his helmet. Before anyone says I have a hard one for josh, I do not. I like the guy, he went to the shop and spent sometime before speedweeks and that was about it.Comment
