Wet sump engines in a super is not a good idea. Maybe the 525, but surely not something with 800HP

I would still build a wide bore for an inch limit. I don't understand inch rules. All the cranks cost the same. Small engines get turned harder and are less reliable as a result.

blocks, cranks, cams, head castings, they are all higher priced, you could save 10-15 thousand over a wide bore (I'm saying this if you build it yourself), plus if you break it, you won't have to wait 8-12 weeks
inch rule to get away from the exotic blocks and parts, cost will be lower, as far as policing it, its very easy, all you need is a volume tool and check each cylinder, done
just my 2 cents, ya'll have a good day, got to finish the new car, we really need to do one of two things in our sport, and i do love this sport, help the cost to keep the local favorite in it, or get the purses higher weekly, at the end of the day the guys that run the tours have help with money for the most part, its the weekly show we need to fix before its gone, times have changed and unless we get the youth involved in it, its over, there are alot of guys i know that do good enough to have a car but won't run because of the weekly pay outs, there is just no reward for all the work, then we come up with crates, so what do they do pay less for them to win, that didn't fix the problem it made it worse of a gap, then they don't police it either, problem worse
while i don't have the answer and i don't own a track, the definition of insanity is to do the samething and expect better results, just not going to happen, at the end of the day its a show, SO MAKE IT A SHOW !!!!

My point is a 400 CI widebore is superior to a 400 ci STD bore block. If you want wide bore engines out, just outlaw them.

CnB, my statement holds all the water. He was first to charge big money and had to buy 2 policy. Yea you bought his knowledge and help but there's many a rich men in this sport and folks were falling over themselves to be in his elite click. Then when seen money to be made the NASCAR engineers came and prices to keep up went up for everyone

I'm not trying to stir any pots here but no they don't. The term widebore does not refer to a big bore short stroke engine. The " widebore" is a completely different animal the name comes from the fact that the bore centers of the block are different making virtually every piece of the engine exclusive to it and thus more expensive

I understand the term widebore. I also know a widebore 434 is a shorter stroke than a STD bore 434 in most cases. A widebore engine typically takes a larger Piston because it can. And that helps heads breathe better.

                    Chuck,

It looks like your under rail isn't low enough in your car. It seems to be limiting hike considerably.

You are correct i was mentioning this in reference to the all parts cost the same comment. If your building a standard bore spacing engine. You are correct but everything caused more in a widebore engine

Once you have chosen the platform, stroke doesn't effect cost. That's what I meant. Goes along with my previous comment about widebore is better if an option. If you want it gone, it must be written out.

Remember the days when the reward of a trophy and bragging rights was enough? I do. And racing was fun not only to watch, but to participate in. Now so many folks want to be paid for their recreation. No one pays me to hunt or fish. i realize the cost difference, but man, it was so much better when racing paid less and cost less.

I don't remember a day payouts didn't factor into my budget.

I like the CT525 as an option, but to me its still a move in the wrong direction and will further hurt engine builders instead of reigning in the chassis builders. Unhook the cars, its that simple and the need for a lot of this excessive HP goes away, thus lowering engine costs. Otherwise leaving the cars hooked up and lowering the HP just makes for big go karts. I know nobody that matters is listening, they are as deaf and dumb as nascar. JMHO.
                              I was a highwayman
Along the coach roads I did ride

                              and I am still alive

I hope you don't mind if I ask, but how long have you been racing? I am not assuming anything, just asking. For me and those around me in the mid-70s to mid-80s, no one ever asked how much a race paid. We ran asphalt, late model sportsman division, from local tracks and weekly shows to NASCAR national championship races within 4 hours or so from the shop. Pay never factored into it, and we had very little support. We raced for the fun of it, and hoped to cover a few bills, but did not race for that reason. just my experience, but it seemed like then, the goal was to race and have fun.

When NASCAR turned us into the Busch series, and instead of Caraway, Franklin county, Hickory, south Boston and Orange County on Saturday nights, we were going to Indy, Milwaukee, etc., things changed. In my opinion, not for the better. At that point, we started asking about the purse!
