    Overweight

    Other than the obvious of being sure your legal, why are guys so far above the minimum weight limit? Even after a hundred lap race they are still 50 or more pounds over even though they give you a pound a lap burn off.

    It varies but. Most of them are heavy to keep their balance right. Many guys don't carry a bunch of fuel in the car on a regular or short race as was common place in the past. So when they add all that fuel load it upsets the cars balance so they place additional weight else where to get the balance to say a happy medium

      Not all sanction give burn off.

        It's better to carry the wgt to maintain the balance of the car. Trust me these guys know exactly what they got to weigh to keep car fast. They been in wind tunnels on pull down rigs tested with data sensors on each wheel etc. That's why late models are out of control money wise.
