I also understand that the North / South pays $2000 to start --

Why not let the winner of the Non-Qualifiers Race tag the tail of the Feature to see if they can roll the dice and advance and pay them the difference? I think that would be a neat incentive and offer more crazed racing to get into the A-Main

Because they would have to build a time machine to go back in time to start the feature since the NQ race is run last. Unlike some other promoters that don't care about the racing quality the Kings don't try to put as many unnecessary laps on the track as possible before they run the race that everyone came to see. The NQ race belongs at the end of the night...all of them do.

They typically run that race after the 100 lapper. I like your idea because it would have to be before the 100 lapper. The rules state that you must run the same tires as you ran in the B main. The b main may be the fastest track conditions you see for the weekend. Then they expect you to run a race on a burned up surface with the same tires. That's crazy. A guy with little chance to advance from the b would be well served to run hard tires in the b to help himself in the non qualifier.

I disagree. I like having the main event feature last and am one who will sit there waiting until it's done. I have no problems chilling at the track, I love being there. I get why they do it though, for the casual fans that want to get home and get to bed.

I think running that race last also has something to do with crowd trying to get out on the road. Quagmire comes into view IMO. So rather than some people waiting for an hour and half or so to get on the road, some opt to stay and watch the last race. Crowd thins much easier that way.

It's more about not burning up the track before the most important race of the weekend. But it's also nice to not hold people hostage and make them sit through stuff they don't want to see.

I would argue the more casual fan is the one that just wants to sit around the track, and the more hardcore fan is the one that wants the feature as soon as possible, since it's the main attraction.

If that's the case then I've been casually staying at races until all features have been run and sometimes hanging out in the pits afterwards for almost 40 years. I just love dirt track racing and I can't see many casual fans staying after the main event to watch a Ucar race, or a 3 car street stock race

I always look at it as, it gives the traffic a chance to clear out before I decide to leave. I like that it is after the 100 lapper.

There has been a few times that I've left before all features have run. Like the world finals in 2015 I believe when the sprints tore the fence down numerous times and the LM race didn't end until 2am or after. Still had the mods to run but we were wore out and left. Or say a lower division last race turns into a wreck fest, I've rolled out on a handful of those. But for the most part I'm always there atleast till the last checkered waves.

The North/South 100 is a late model race. The fans want to see the main event. That's just the way it works. It doesn't make the guy who is ready to leave afterwards a more casual fan. It just means he values his time in a different way.
